Where my dreams lay calm and bright.

Happy New Year! How were the holidays for ya? John, Todd and I traveled to celebrate my new niece‘s first Christmas. I’m certain she didn’t have a clue, but we had a ball pulling her bright-red new sled around the snowy Chicago streets. The huge smile on her face made us all feel very successful. Honestly, it was one of the nicest Christmas’s I’ve ever had. Relaxing, no travel issues, lots of love and good food. I felt Christmas this year. I hope you did, too.

Due to John’s work, we thought we were going to have to extend our trip in Chicago to include New Year’s, but we didn’t. That last-minute change left us without plans for the holiday, but sometimes, no plans is a whole lot more fun than plans. Instead of lipstick, heels and a holiday party this year (also fun), I made Cumin Lamb Burgers, one of John’s favorite dinners, and we took in a movie (The Fighter – Excellent! Christian Bale is crazy good.) The night hit the spot.

I’ve started thinking about 2011 a bit, which prompted my digging up 2010’s New Year’s Blog for comparison. Not everything happened that I’d imagined, but I’m choosing to focus on the progress towards the big picture of my dreams. In that light, the year was beautiful. Todd the dog, with his crystal blue eyes and soft demeanor, became family. His daily wags and playful pounces add great joy. The recipes are completely tested for our cookbook. The writing is almost complete. I really love the book, and it has been wonderful to work with my mom. My husband is geared up to do the photography, and my prayers are focused on a perfect publisher for this book in 2011. I want to finish. If you have any extra prayers, we’ll take them.

Farm to Table hasn’t happened, yet. But more importantly, John and I are working to actually live Farm to Table. We want to move to a farm. We’re looking, and we’re happily dreaming. I’ll keep you posted. I see pastured chickens, heritage-breed pigs and organic vegetables in our future. I hope the universe sees that, too.

Overall, 2011 feels exciting to me. Filled with possibility; grounded in a good bit of hard-work. I’ve faced rejection, and it doesn’t scare me to face more. My hands are open, and my heart is patient. My eyes are firmly focused on the horizon, where my dreams lay bright and calm.

I’d love to hear how each of you feel this brand new year. My New Year’s wish for you is peace, play and creativity. And once again, I want you to know how grateful I am that you choose to spend a bit of your time here with me. To 2011!

In celebration, let’s talk about one of my family’s most favorite burgers.

Thanks Ren! That means a lot coming from you!

Beth – I like a company called US Wellness Meats. They ship all over the US. Here's a link to their ground lamb – http://www.grasslandbeef.com/Detail.bok?no=541

Good luck with the New Year! I feel the same way about 2011. Our astrology signs have great aspects for publishing for the first half of this year. Let's hope we both get our books published!!

Thanks Jen! That is encouraging! I will be sending good vibes for you as well. Is this the novel that you've been working on? So cool.

While looking at this picture, I began to crave for some burgers! I can't wait for tomorrow. I want to cook this one! In eating such meat, there are times that debris within the teeth are hard to remove. I was advised to floss after eating and brushing to remove the unwanted debris within the teeth by my dentist in Miami. Veneers are helpful for making your teeth whiter and protecting the surface of your teeth. I also have these. I'm so eager to follow the advice of my Miami dentist so I'll maintain good oral health.
