We’re in!

Well, maybe not Todd. He’d been out chasing this guy…
But, the rest of us and our many, many, many boxes of belongings are officially home. Mom‘s here, too. She’s come to help and stay for the next two months, while John’s in South Africa for work. Dad flies in later today for the same reason. Through the window of my temporary kitchen office, mom walks past, probably switching the laundry and definitely making me wonder how we ever, ever could have done this without her.
Here she is bonding with one of the farm cats, who’s hopefully resting after a long day of opossum catching.
She’s fitting right in…
But, we’re not the only one’s in… so are the seeds!
The beans have already started to sprout. Raul and John did an amazing job. The garden is irrigated, gated, fenced; we’re in business, baby!
This year will be an experiment to see what could work well for a future farmer’s market operation. We’ve planted a wide variety including several types of heirloom tomatoes, snow peas, beets, yellow squash, watermelon, pumpkin, radishes, peppers and more, even german chamomile for fresh chamomile tea.
It’s just the beginning, for us, for the seeds, for farm dog Todd… possibly not for the opossum. But regardless, beginnings are pretty, filled with hope and buzzing with possibility. Today, I’m dreaming of a great summer salsa. Heirloom tomatoes, peppers, onion – yes!
Keep me posted on what’s in your garden. I want details.

So glad to see you using all of those seeds. When I sent them to you I mourned a little bit, but I am so happy for y’all.

I am SO excited for you! I hope you will agree to let me come over and shoot photos and cover it on my blog. I can’t wait to see your new farm. And we’re house-shopping in the neighborhood, as you know. I hope we end up living close enough that we can do regular dinner parties!

Just think…a very few short months from now and we’ll be enjoying the literal “fruits” of your effort. Well done Molly, John and Toddy! Well done.

Oh it looks so pretty! And how wonderful to share it with your mom and dad. God is so good! Youre garden sounds awesome, geez it’s so big. Our is coming along. We have harvested radishes and lettuce. A bird brooding on her 4 eggs is helping us harvest the strawberries. It’s hard to hold that against her-though my 7 year old has had enough of this aviary theft-she wants her strawberries. Red raspberries are green-but there! And our blueberries are green. everything else-tomatos, peppers (8 varieties now), zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, peas, green beans are all getting big and strong and flowers are emerging. Waiting …and loving early morning waterings…can’t wait to see your garden! blessings, Joy
